LA JUMENT ET SON POULAIN
The sculptor Reno was chosen to restore a major work of the sculptor Pierre Tourgueneff (1854-1912).
Sculptor RENO has also created a number of equestrian works. In this spirit he has been selected for this restoration. The sculpture is 58cm high, 80 cm length, weighs 15 kilos.
Pierre TOURGUENEFF was born in France to a Russian father forced to live outside his country of birth, having been sentenced to death by Nicolas the 1st.
Pupil of the sculptor E.Fremiet, the sculptor was invited to exhibit to the various world expos and to the Army Museum. A large number of art works (around 150) equestrian figures, nudes, animals, amongst them, “La Jument et son Poulain” were exhibited at the Paris exhibition in 1896. The sculpture represents a mare and foal, in plaster, signed in full on the pedestal.
